Policeman, Female Passenger Die In Ijora Autocrash

A police officer and a passenger have died, alongside others severely injured and needing medical intervention following a fatal autocrash in the Ijora area of Lagos.
Eyewitnesses at the scene stated that the tragic incident occured after a driver of an Apple fully laden 40-foot container lost control of the vehicle and rammed into commercial tricycle conveying passengers, leaving two of them involving a policeman and a female passenger dead on the spot.
The body of the Police officer was conveyed to a morgue in Yaba while the passenger’s remains was recovered by the relative, causing grief at the scene.
Emergency respondents from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, spearheaded a rescue operation of the injured victims taking them to Jimsan Hospital, Ijora for urgent medical intervention.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, who lauded the swift efforts of the rescuers, expressed sympathy to the families of the dead casualties and wished the injured speedy recuperation.
He advised truck drivers and all motorists on proper driving ethics and high degree of caution to avert recurrence of calamitous incidents as part of efforts to protect lives and properties.
