Police Intensify Patrols in Shitta, Itire, Others Over Security Concerns
Residents in parts of Surulere can go about their daily activities without fear, as the Lagos State Police Command has stepped up security across the area following rumours of a possible cult-related clash.
The alert, which circulated widely, mentioned areas such as Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda, and Ishaga as potential flashpoints. In response, police authorities said they acted swiftly, deploying officers and operational resources to the affected communities and nearby locations.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, patrols have been intensified, with officers strategically positioned to ensure maximum visibility and deter any threat to peace.
The command reassured residents that the situation is under control, stressing that there is no immediate danger. Security personnel remain on ground to prevent any unlawful gatherings and maintain order.
Residents have also been advised to ignore unverified messages that could cause unnecessary panic and instead rely on official updates. The police encouraged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity through designated emergency lines or the nearest police station.
The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring Lagosians that all necessary measures are in place to keep communities safe.
