A 24-year-old woman, Halimat Jubril, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command after she was found with a fabricated Beretta pistol along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.

Halimat was reportedly stopped by a Police Tactical Team on routine patrol along the ECOWAS corridor in Badagry. Upon being questioned, she allegedly failed to offer any credible explanation for being in possession of the weapon.

Though she denied involvement in armed robbery, police officers say she was unable to justify why she had the locally made firearm while traveling on the highway. Investigators believe she may have acted in collaboration with accomplices who are still at large.

Halimat has since been charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of a firearm, offences that carry significant prison terms under Lagos State law.

The case is currently before the Ogba Magistrate Court, where it awaits legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
