Police Arraign Security Guards For Stealing Electrical Appliances Worth N17m

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two security guards over an alleged theft of electrical appliances at their work place.

The Command, at the Yaba Magistrates’ Court, where the suspects : Oluropo Bukola and Alade Johnson were arraigned on Wednesday claimed that the stolen appliances were worth N17m.

The charges by the police on three-count of conspiracy and theft alleged that the defendants commited the act at No. 41/43 Prince Idowu Oladipo street, Ejigbo, Lagos.

The Command stated that the defendants were offered the job due to the property owner looking to secure his properties. However, on April 16, 2024, when they went to the property for inspection, they discovered that some electrical appliances, including conduit wiring for eight flats, a swimming pool engine, an air conditioning system, five 32-inch televisions, and four units of solar lights, totalling had been stolen.

The alleged act was said to have contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Linda Balogun ordered that the defendants be remanded and pushed further hearing on the matter till June 1, 2024.
