Police Arraign Man Over N120,000 Fraud

A 57-year-old man, Odion Matthew, has been arrested by the Police in Lagos over allegations of fraud.

Micheal, according to the Police prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, commited the act on December 12, 2022, at Car Wash Bus Stop, Badagry.

The suspect was arraigned at the Magistrates’ Court in Badagry on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

At the court, Okuoimose said that Michael obtained the sum of N120,000 from the petitioner, Okafor Moses, under the guise of conducting a money contribution scheme.

The prosecutor disclosed that the accused failed to use the money for the contribution scheme as discussed, rather, he converted it to his use.

He said the offences contravened sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum, also ordering that the surety must be gainfully employed.

Next sitting on the matter is on July 22.
