Petrol Attendant On Trial Over Alleged N1.7M Theft

A petrol attendant, Alaba Samson, has been arrested by the police over allegations of stealing N1.78 million at his workplace.

Samson, 34, was arraigned at the Badagry Magistrates’ Court on Thursday on charges of felony and theft which he pleaded not guilty to.

The suspect, according to the Police Prosecutor, Edet Ekpo, committed the offences between August 1 and 2, at Jamfad Filing Station, Torikoh, along the Lagos Badagry Expressway, stealing the sum of N1,781,500 belonging to one Falade James, the complainant.

Ekpo, added that Samson was arrested in his homen having contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.

During the court proceeding, the Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in the like sum.

Layeni ordered that that one of the sureties must be self-employed before adjourning the case till September 24.
