Passersby using the pedestrian bridge at Charity Bus Stop, along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway have commended the Lagos State Government for the reconstruction of the bridge.

Just as the road reconstruction of the Expressway progresses, the pedestrian bridge is also being renovated as it is being covered with tent to provide shield for pedestrians when it is sunny or rainy.

The contractor handling the project, HiTECH Construction Company, said the reconstruction would be completed in two weeks.

According to the site engineer, Engr. Hillary, the major work is to cover the bridge with rubber zinc to protect people from the heat of the sun and rainfalls.

“In the next two weeks, everything will be completed the same way NACHO bridge was completed two weeks ago and same speed will be applied to Charity bridge to get the project done quickly. That is the normal procedure.”

He said the plastic zinc the bridge was earlier covered with was broken and taken away but would be replaced with rubber zinc while the bridge is properly rehabilitated.

He added that the potholes on the service lane have been filled with concrete stones to give easy access to vehicles before asphalt is laid on the road.
