PDP: Supreme Court dismisses Awesu’s appeal

Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal brought before it by Hon. AbdulAzzez Adekunle Awesu , a federal constituency aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikorodu.

The verdict cleared the way for Hon. Abdulkareem Shittu’s candidacy in the forthcoming House of Representatives election for Ikorodu federal constituency.

The Supreme Court also awarded N1 million in favour of Hon. Shittu against Hon. Awesu. This brings the total sum awarded against Mr Awesu to N1.5 million having previously had a cost of N500,000 awarded against him at the Court of Appeal.

The PDP as a party was also ordered to pay Hon. Shittu the sum of N5 million as a punitive cost for bringing an earlier appeal against him at the Court of Appeal.
