The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, has bemoaned the arrest of three workers at the Lagos State House of Assembly by the Department of State Services, Services DSS, calling for their immediate release.
PASAN, during a forum held by its members on Tuesday, threatened to shut down activities at the Assembly complex in Alausa, Ikeja, in protest of the detention of the arrestees.
While protesting at the Assembly, the group Chairman, Babatunde Ogunlana, said : “We condemn the arrests and unfair treatment toward our colleagues.
“We have shown enough understanding, but pending the time of their release, we will shut down the Assembly in solidarity with our colleagues.
“Nobody dares to carry firearms into the courtroom, and we called for peace, not for the Assembly chamber to be locked. We need to stand in solidarity with them because it can be anybody.”
“We are not happy with the way the DSS is treating our colleagues. The ladies among them are not feeling fine; they are being treated like criminals for simply defending the Assembly and doing their duties.”
PASAN vowed to take further action if their colleagues are not released.
