Parents of the pupils attending Oladele Alake Primary School in Ailegun ward were happy to witness the re-opening of the school last week by the State Universal Basic Education Board after a year of upgrading that caused the temporary location of the school to Oke-Afa Primary School.

The original construction of the school was funded with the funds belonging to Lagos State that was seized by the Obasanjo administration but released by the Yar’Adua administration.

The Lagos State Government under the administration of Governor Raji Fashola appointed consultant engineers to supervise the contractors appointed by the local governments and sign off on the successful completion of the projects.
Following the completion, the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area opened the schools to the students with a team of headmistress and teachers sent by the state government.

In 2017, SUBEB expressed interest in the upgrading of the school to improve its facilities for learning. The pupils were then moved to another primary school at Jakande Estate for the time of the rebuilding by the SUBEB. The rebuilding process, which started early this year, has been completed.

On Thursday last week, the school was reopened by the Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsuru Bello (Obe) as the pupils were asked to return to continue their education in the school properly.

In his speech at the reopening of the school, the council chairman pleaded with the pupils for the inconvenience experienced in the cause of rebuilding the school.

He explained that the school is going to move in new infrastructure to the community like roads and other business opportunity.

He then appreciated the state government for rebuilding the school while appealing to the government to also see to the fencing of the school for proper security of the pupils.

The Ailegun Ward Secretary, Barr. Bimbo Olawale, said the reopening of the school was good news saying the parents can now have their children close to them in their community unlike when they had to travel a long distance to get to school.

Also speaking, APC chairman, Ailegun ward, Prince Adefioye said the community has been waiting for the resumption of the school for the benefit of which it was built in the first instance.
