Parents alert govt on falling school structures

Parents and guardians have called on the state government to urgently repair the dilapidated building of classrooms at Low Cost Housing Estate Primary School I and II.
They claimed that the building has been in the state of disrepair for the past seven years.
The said the building, which is on the verge of collapse, may be dangerous for the pupils if not renovated urgently.
One of the parents, Alhaja Folashade Oyesanmi, said a particular building in the school may soon collapse due to incessant heavy downpour.
She urged all political office holders to render help to the school to save the children.
She appealed to the Lagos state Ministry of Education, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Lagos State Governor, Ejigbo LCDA Chairman, and other concerned stakeholders to reconstruct the building early to avoid share condolence messages to parents in the estate.
Also speaking, the president of Estate Youth Parliament (EYP), Mr Yusuf Adeyemi, said the body had written various to different government parastatals to make sure there is peace in the estate over the matter.
Apart from posing danger to the pupils, the parents also observes that the dilapidated building is being used by hoodlums as their hideouts.
To prevent the hoodlums, they agreed to employ security guards themselves.
In the same vein, parents also lamented over the issue of overcrowding in the school, claiming that there are no enough classrooms to contain the higher population of the pupils, appealing for note classrooms in addition to renovation of the dilapidated ones.
They said overcrowding would expose the students to the risk of Covid-19.
