Students from Pan-Atlantic University recently took the lead in driving women’s economic empowerment in Ibeju-Lekki.
The Ibeju-Lekki Council Secretariat played host to the Women Empowerment Program, a meticulously planned initiative under the university’s Community Service Project, which brought together women from across the area for a day of learning, creativity, and entrepreneurial development.

The program was designed to enhance women’s economic potential by equipping them with practical skills and modern business knowledge. Participants engaged in hands-on demonstrations, notably learning the art of liquid soap production — from creating the formula to preparing market-ready products. Beyond production, sessions on branding empowered women to package and present their goods attractively, effectively communicating their value to customers.

A key highlight was the digital marketing workshop, where attendees gained tools to leverage social media and other online platforms for business growth. From creating functional business pages to managing an online presence and implementing simple marketing strategies, women left with actionable knowledge to reach broader markets. A session on import and export fundamentals further expanded their horizons, introducing opportunities beyond local trade.

By the end of the program, many participants had developed ready-to-sell product prototypes and a clearer vision for sustainable ventures. The day was marked by enthusiasm, collaboration, and a shared commitment to community advancement.

The initiative represents a meaningful contribution to women’s economic empowerment in Ibeju-Lekki, equipping participants with skills to strengthen livelihoods, foster self-reliance, and fuel innovation. Beyond practical training, it cultivates a culture of entrepreneurship and collective growth, positioning women at the forefront of local economic development.
