The former Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties to the chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsurudeen Bello (Obe), Segun Oyegbemile, has suggested three new strategies that could help the new administration to enhance good governance.

One of the strategies is what he terms “Disaster Preparedness and Response”.

By this, Oyegbemile urged the local government authority to set up help centres, provide First Aid kits, detector alarm, and other safety equipment and sensitive the residents on how to tackle emergency situations.

He explained that apart from providing safety service to the people, it would also create employment as some people would be employed to man the centres.

He suggested that the emergency safety equipments should be made available with annual subscription from the community.

The former SSA also suggested a new strategy to tackle insecurity, saying the local government should embark on compulsory installation of Halogen light and CCTV at the entrance of each street across the council area.

He said the procurement of such equipment would greatly reduce insecurity as hoodlums would be easily traced while their activities would easily monitored.

He stated that it would also assist the state and federal government in tackling the problem of insecurity.

The third strategy, according to him, is to maintain cleaner environment.

The strategy focuses on abuse of abattoir by the butchers.

He suggested a tough rule on the use of abattoir, noting that the environment of the abattoir is unclean and  poses danger to the people.

Apart from enhancing good governance and creating cleaner and crime-free community, Oyegbemile said if the strategies are properly used, they can equally create sources of revenue generation for the government.
