Overspeeding Driver On Trial For Damaging Transforner

A truck driver identified as David Ofort is facing prosecution over an alleged damage of electric transformer valued at N3,200,000.
35-year-old Ofort in a Blue Actros Truck with Registration Number LND 27 XX, drove at excessive speed while driving along the Badagry Expressway in Lagos, hence, ramming the vehicle against the transformer, as submitted by the Police Prosecutor, DSP Clement Okuiomose.
Okuoimose said that the defendant damaged the item belonging to Eko Electricity Distribution Company, EKEDC.
The Prosecutor mentioned that the offences contravened Sections 19 and 46 of the Road Traffic Law, Lagos State, 2012.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1,000,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
The case was adjourned till March 18.
