As the final match of the third edition of the Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Cup gets closer, team manager of Egbedore United, one of the finalist of the competition said he is confident that his team will emerge champions on Sunday.
Muideen Odeyemi while expressing optimism over his team’s ability to win the coveted trophy by beating their opponents Osun Football Academy, noted that it won’t come easy, but they are ready to win this time around.
Egbedore United lost to Eyiowuawi FC last year and won’t want to lose a second time in the final. The team defeated Ila United 3-1 to progress to the Final of the the tournament with Sheriff Hamzat, Francis Sunday and Ayo Olajugba goals sealing the win for the Egbedore based side.
“I am more than confident that we would end up being Champions on Sunday,” Odeyemi told the tournament’s media.
“Osun FA are a very good side, but we have worked hard enough in training and very hopeful we would take the day.
“A win for us on Sunday would be a special moment for the Egbedore people , who have shown us huge supports from the start of this competition. We won’t want to let them down, because the Egbedore people are crazy about football and it’s just right for us to pay them back, by winning the Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Football Cup Trophy”. He concluded.
Egbedore United will face Osun Football Academy on Sunday in the final of the Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Football Cup by 3pm at the Osogbo City Stadium.
The Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Cup Football Competition was initiated by Honourable Bamidele Salam in the year 2020, to immortalize the selfless, philanthropic services of the first civilian Governor of Osun State, who was a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and an astute Politician when he was alive.
The third edition of the Competition has being expanded to involve selected Football Clubs from the 30 Local Governments in Osun State and the Ife East Area Office.
