The organizer of the Oshodi Veterans Game, Yemi Fortune have stated that, the tournament is a festival of football that’s used to honor players above the age of 40.
Yemi Fortune added that, the reason for the tournament is mentor, inspire and sensitize the younger, active players and to let them know that football can be taken as a career.
“Oshodi Veterans Game is a festival of football which provides an important platform for football Veterans to dazzle and showcase their craftiness.
“It’s a gala sporting event for Veterans( age 40 years and above).
There will be Prize Money for the winners and runners up, man of the match awards, highest goal scorer, MVP, best goalkeeper, best team, best coach, sportsmanship awards, medals and other meritorious awards will be given out to outstanding teams and player at this event. It’s gonna be a glamorous sporting event with huge contents.
“This is a way of sensitising, Mentoring and inspiring the youngsters. Also to Ignite the passion and love for game football in our upcoming talents and people around us.
“Our upcoming talents needs sensitization and reorientation about doing football as a career/profession cos fraud has taken over grassroots football. These days we see no passion, love, commitment and hardworking from our youngsters at the grassroots level just bcos something else is taking there attentions, time and love for the career they claimed to have chosen.
“Most importantly, we want to use this platform to gain good friendship, genuine connections and valued engagement for the development of grassroots football and also transform our society through power of football.
“Personalities to expect at the Oshodi Veterans Game are, Nigeria’s Ex Int’l, football legends, icons, great football coaches, managers and agents.
“16 All-Stars team across lagos state will be on parade for this football competition.”
