The open space at Oshodi-Isolo local government secretariat was packed full as people gathered from various places to participate in the distribution of food items organized by the council chairman during the weekend.
Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, the chairman, explained that he felt compelled to launch the second phase of the free food distribution program to assist those in needand alleviate the economic challenges brought about by subsidy removal.
This second phase was a significant improvement from the previous program conducted in August last year, with beneficiaries receiving packs of essential items like rice, beans, garri, yam, spaghetti, noodles, Power oil, plantains, as well as fresh meat and vegetables.
The chairman emphasized that this initiative aligns with the welfare agenda of his administration, aiming to reach numerous households in providing essential support.
He urged Nigerians to have trust in Tinubu’s government, believing that Nigeria will benefit from it.
Mrs Aishat Ogunmoye, a recipient, expressed her joy and appreciation to the council chairman upon receiving her package.
She said; “I am very happy for the kind gesture of the chairman with this food packs. In my pack, there is rice, beans, Garri, Yam, spaghetti, noddles and power oil. This is a huge food package from the chairman. May God bless him.”
Also contributing is physically challenged man, Alfa Yisau, who expressed joy at the orderliness and how people living with disabilities were given top consideration. He also thanked the council chairman for his thoughtfulness particularly at a time like this.
The philanthropic chairman promised to continue programs that would benefit his constituents.
