In a significant step towards fulfilling his campaign promise to improve education in the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, Chairman Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has kicked off construction on the St. Paul Primary School with a foundation laying ceremony.
During a visit to the construction site on Sunday, August 4, 2024, the Council Chairman expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project, emphasizing his commitment to completing it within the shortest possible time frame.
According to a statement issued by the Council Chairman’s media office, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede revealed that the newly built two-story structure will replace an existing 58-year-old building that has fallen into a state of severe disrepair, making it unsuitable for educational use.
“Upon completion, this new building will replace the dilapidated structure that has stood for nearly six decades, offering a modern and functional learning environment for our students,” the statement read.
In addition to this information, the Chairman divulged that the new building would be fitted with 12 classrooms, toilets, a library, and a store, as well as modern educational equipment and furniture to facilitate a seamless teaching and learning process.
Mr. Akeem Adeoye, a parent and resident of the area whose son is in Primary 3 at St. Paul Primary School, expressed gratitude for the Chairman’s visionary initiative, stating, “I am delighted with the Chairman’s efforts in improving the school facilities.
He said; “words alone cannot express the way we feel about this project and our chairman. This kind of structure is a new one in our local government.
“When I saw the 3D impression pictures online, I was praying that he should just help him to do it and now, work has already commenced. I am happy because the former building is too old. On behalf of other parents, I say a big thank you to our chairman, Kendoo.”
The building, when completed, will be added to the long list of educational interventions executed by the Otunba Oloyede’s administration which includes:
1. Distribution of free exercise books and other writing materials to the pupils
2. Distribution of customised school bags to schools across the seven wards of the local government.
3. Purchase and presentation of smart learning educational gadgets including 54″ smart Tv, printer, generator, etc to Bolade Junior Grammar School.
4. Provision of free daily lunch to the pupils of Oshodi Central Primary School.
5. Scholarships to indigent students within the council area.
6. Provision of free school bus to convey students to and from school.
7. Free summer coaching.
8. Distribution of free GCE and Jamb forms, to mention among others.
In conclusion, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede assured the residents of the Local Government Area that he remains committed to delivering more benefits of democracy to the community through infrastructure development, as part of his dedication to serving the people.
“My promise to you is that I will continue to work tirelessly for the betterment of our community, and I will spare no effort in ensuring that we receive the necessary infrastructure and facilities that will improve our quality of life,” he stated.
