Oshodi Day 2023: Oloyede Hails Resilient Spirit of Residents

The Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Mr. Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof has saluted the resilience of Oshodi people.

The Chairman who hosted residents and indigenes of Oshodi during the 2023 Oshodi day made this known at the secretariat.

Echonews reports that secretariat of the council became a Mecca of sort as thousands of indigenes, residents, invited guests and well-wishers throngs the council premises.

Oshodi Day is an annual event that celebrate the diversity, resilience and die-hard spirit of Oshodi sons and daughters. It displays and promotes the rich cultural heritage of the community as well as showcase the talent of the constituents. The event also create a platform for Oshodi artists, or those that have a link or root in Oshodi, to showcase their talents.

This year’s event, which came up yesterday 26th December, 2023, was a spectacule as it feature events like cultural display, dance competition, traditional poem recitation, beauty pageantry and host of others.

Different disc jockey (DJs) show class as they performed to the admiration of the audience.

Fuji Music maestro, King Wasiu Ayide Marshall (K1) added glamour to the occasion as he thrilled guests with scintillating and mind lifting songs.

The atmosphere became more convivial when the music icon dished out songs of various kinds to the admiration of all, as they could not but kept dancing those who could not stand dance in their seats. It was a memorable event.

Otunba Kehinde Oloyede, the executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government used the avenue to laud the rich cultural heritage of the Oshodi community while appreciating the people for always making the community proud. He disclosed that a typical Oshodian is known for his/her hard-work, perseverance, ingenuity, determination, creativity and resilience.

He posited that Oshodi is a safe heaven for raw talent and brainy youths that are making positive waves in different fields. He asserts that in this year alone, an Oshodi daughter came out with a First class at the prestigious Nigerian law school. Pupils of Monsuru Agoro pry school, Oshodi won first position in Lagos and second in a national jets’ club competition.

He equally disclosed that students of Bolade Junior Secondary School won best school in Nigeria and best school for talent hunt in the whole of West Africa.
According to the council chairman, these are just a few of the numerous recognition and laurels that Oshodi has won.

He appreciates the organizers of the event and lauds the sponsors while urging people to visit Oshodi community for talent hunt.

He implored indigenes and residents of Oshodi to continue flying the flag of the local government, stressing that as a government, he would continue to support the good ambassadors of the local government.

He said, “Today is our day to celebrate what Oshodi stands for which is resilience, die-hard spirit, innovation, dedication and creativity. Oshodi is gradually taking its rightful place in the sphere of things and it can be attributed to our people, majorly our youths who are making us proud by performing extremely well in various areas.

Oshodi is full of talents and I urge talent hunters to beam their search light in Oshodi and they will not be disappointed. We are brothers and sisters in Oshodi and our bound of brotherhood can only wax stronger.
