To embrace more innovation in healthcare delivery In response to the ever-evolving changes in today’s healthcare space, Orile-Agege General Hospital has held its Year 2023 Strategic Management Retreat themed “Building Resilience in a Changing Healthcare Space: Rethinking Resources Allocation“, at the Witsspring Hotel and Suites, Ifako, Gbagada.
The 2-day retreat for the hospital management team, unit heads, and team leads provided an avenue to brainstorm and share perspectives on real-world steps through which hospitals could be more resilient by adopting innovative resource allocation strategies to remain competitive in a rapidly changing environment.
According to the MD/CEO of the hospital, Dr. ‘Sola Pitan, the event will also provide an avenue for the hospital management to explore avenues for collaboration between healthcare providers and community organisations, to incorporate patient and community perspectives into their decision-making process, thus, fostering partnerships that will enhance healthcare accessibility and support.
He added that the retreat would also explore the role of innovation and technological advancements that could be deployed for improving resource mobilisation and management, while also enhancing collaboration and coordination among healthcare stakeholders.
The retreat was attended by an array of distinguished speakers including Dr. Mobolaji Olukoya, Commissioner II, (HSC); Dr. Ademuyiwa Eniayewun, Permanent Secretary (HSC); Dr. Olufunmilayo Bankole, Permanent Secretary, Health District 1; Dr. Olawale Adegbite, Director of Medical Services (HSC), Dr. Adeyinka Otepola, Deputy Director of Medical Services (HSC); Dr. Olajumoke Oyenuga, Director, Healthcare Planning Research, Statistics & Programs, Ministry of Health; and Dr. Anire Chima-Oduko, Public Health Physician (LUTH, Idi-Araba).
Other sessions featured presentations by key leaders in the hospital including Dr. Oluyemi Taiwo, Director of Clinical Services; Dr. Adenike Odewole, Head of the Community Medicine Department; Pharmacist Oluwajeda Kotun, Head of Pharmacy; Dr. James Asa, Principal Medical Officer; Chief Nursing Officer, Aminat Rasaki, Hospital Manager; Mrs. Khadijat Oladimeji, Head of Procurement; and Mrs. Kate Mbirim, Head of Store.
Decisions from the deliberations at the retreat will provide insights into the core elements of the Hospital’s Year 2024 Strategic Roadmap to be anchored by Dr. Temitope Bakare – Deputy Director of Clinical Services and Head of Quality Improvement, and Pharmacist Funmi Ajao – Team Lead – Alaajo News.
The Y2024 Strategic Roadmap will plan and prepare the hospital to improve the quality of healthcare delivery and prepare strategically for the upcoming year.
