The chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, praised the Ounje Eko Sunday Market program established by Lagos state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to help alleviate the challenging economic conditions in the country.
He promised to replicate the initiative and highlighted its positive impact on a large population.
During his visit to the market at Owoseni primary school, Oloyede commended Sanwo-Olu for the innovative idea and also praised the residents for their orderly behavior.
He also expressed gratitude to the security agencies for ensuring that the activities proceeded smoothly.
Before the market opened at 11am, Oloyede had inspected the school grounds and was pleased with the vendors, staff, and security measures in place.
He checked back after the opening to ensure that everyone was being served efficiently. Praise was given to the governor’s initiative, and the Oshodi-Isolo Council leader mentioned that plans were underway for their local government’s intervention to support the community.
He said; “I am extremely pleased with this novel initiative by our governor who has come up with this 25% reduction in prices of food items. The initiative will afford our people the opportunity to buy food items at a reduced price without any form of discrimination. On behalf of the residents of Oshodi-Isolo LG, I thank his Excellency governor Sanwo-Olu for this initiative.
I would like to also announce that we are working on another relief program for our community, and we are making progress in the planning process.
We will be distributing food items to our people very soon. Additionally, Oloyede encouraged the community to trust in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as his initiatives and strategies will soon start showing positive outcomes.
