The Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Otunba Adebayo Olasoju has prohibited street-trading at the popular Aswani Faronbi International Market.

The chairman made the pronouncement when he inspected the market and subsequently hosted the market leaders in the council secretariat on Wednesday.

The council boss sought partnership with the market leaders on effective management of the market based on security, ticketing, revenue generation and the unchecked activities of street traders around the market premises.

Olasoju explained that though the market administration might have been entrusted to the marker leaders, the facility is government-owned as he called for a workable partnership between both parties.

He said the cooperation is necessary for the convenience of the traders and revenue generation from the market.

He, however, prohibited street trading in the market henceforth as he urged the market leaders to ensure enforcement and full compliance to the directive, noting that such move is in the best interest of the traders and to further ensure that the market conforms with the standard of the state and its international image.

He also urged the leaders to have a meeting with the developer in order to sort out the lingering misunderstanding between them, emphasising that his administration is poised to ensure that the market lives up to its international standard.
