Ojoon of Ejigbo Endorses Bamigbetan for House of Representatives

The traditional ruler of Ejigbo, Oba Moruf Adekunle Adisa Ojoola, the Ojoon of Ejigbo, has endorsed the candidacy of former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, for the Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II seat in the Federal House of Representatives.

Bamigbetan, who is currently the Special Adviser to the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Dele Alake, previously served as Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), where he was credited with initiating several community development projects.

The monarch declared his support during Bamigbetan’s courtesy visit to his palace on Sunday night, describing him as “a true leader and grassroots mobiliser” whose administration as LCDA chairman brought modern infrastructure and progress to Ejigbo.

Oba Ojoola said Bamigbetan’s return to the political scene marked “the homecoming of a visionary leader,” pledging to mobilise support for him ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The big bird has come back home to roost. I have no option than to support and mobilise for him,” the monarch said, adding that he once supported Engr. Ganiyu Johnson for the same constituency seat but would now stand firmly behind Bamigbetan.

The traditional ruler called on residents of Oshodi, Isolo, and Ejigbo to rally behind Bamigbetan, whom he described as “a media technocrat and an excellent political leader with vision and capacity.”

In his response, Bamigbetan, who also leads the Mandate Movement, expressed deep appreciation to the monarch, recalling how Oba Ojoola encouraged and supported him during his earlier political journey as LCDA chairman.

“Because of the work I was doing to improve Ejigbo, Kabiyesi stood by me all through and ensured that I became chairman,” he said. “Today feels like a son returning home. The Ojoon of Ejigbo has again announced his support for us, and that is a royal blessing.”

He added that the endorsement was a divine confirmation of his political mission. “It’s God that is touching hearts and directing people to our side. For us, this is a major landmark in our journey toward the House of Representatives in 2027.”

Bamigbetan, popularly known as KOK, further revealed that the monarch had made “a significant sacrifice” to endorse him, describing the gesture as “rare and symbolic.”

He used the occasion to remind Ejigbo residents of his track record as council chairman, listing the construction of schools, health centres, roads, and support for community and women’s groups among his key achievements.

“We built schools, health centres, and roads. We engaged our people, supported community associations and women—especially expectant mothers. People still remember these things, and each time they do, they are happy to support us,” he said.

He thanked the people of Ejigbo for what he called “overwhelming grassroots support,” adding, “It’s been 10 years since I left office, but the affection and trust remain fresh. This journey is long, but we are starting at the right time, with the right people, and the right energy. God will see us through.”
