Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Abiodun Ogunleye, has commissioned the Agric/Owutu Ultra-Modern Motor Park in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), describing it as a transformative project aimed at improving transportation, commerce, and public safety.

The facility, named the Renewed Hope Agenda International Motor Park, was inaugurated on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Agric axis of Ikorodu.

Speaking during the commissioning, Ogunleye commended the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development across key sectors, including transportation, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment.

He noted that the Agric axis previously grappled with traffic congestion, unregulated roadside trading, and unsafe parking practices, which posed risks to commuters and residents.

Previously, we faced numerous challenges in our transportation system. The absence of a well-designed motor park contributed to congestion and chaotic parking,” he said.

Ogunleye described the new motor park as more than just a physical structure, adding that it represents a vision for a more organised, efficient, and secure transport system.

The facility features sheltered waiting areas, seating arrangements, and designated spaces for commercial activities such as trading and vehicle maintenance.

He added that the project is expected to create employment opportunities for park attendants, traders, and other service providers, while also reducing traffic congestion and improving accessibility in the area.

Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Sulaimon Kazeem Olarewaju, said the project was conceived during his first term in office to address congestion and safety concerns at Agric Bus Stop.

He explained that deliberate steps were taken during his second term to actualise the project, noting that it would enhance safety and improve the urban landscape of the LCDA.

Representing the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) State Chairman, Alhaji Samsondeen Adepeju Ajala, the Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Sulaimon Olubanjo, described the project as historic, noting that it is the first modern motor park developed by the association in Lagos State.

He also commended the developmental strides of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and pledged continued support.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, praised the collaboration between the government, transport unions, and the community in delivering the project.

This project is a model of sustainable urban planning. It provides safe and organised spaces for transportation and commerce while boosting economic activities,” he said.

The event attracted several dignitaries, including political leaders, community stakeholders, and representatives of transport unions such as the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and RTEAN.

The Agric Ultra-Modern Motor Park is expected to serve as a model for similar transport infrastructure projects across Lagos State, promoting safer roads, organised transit systems, and inclusive urban development.
