The Odoragunshin Youth Association staged a peaceful protest calling on the Lagos State Government to give them a suitable in the ancient town of Odoragunshin, Eredo LCDA, Lagos state.
The youths called on the state Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to give them a monarch who can contribute immensely to the development of their town as the community has suffered setbacks over the years due to lack of a ruler after the demise of their king several years ago.
They pointed out that two candidates have since been nominated but none of the them is ready to step down for one another as their case has been in the court for over three years.
“Instead of the imposition, we will prefer Prince Tomiwa who has been contributing to this community before the issue of obaship came on board”, one of protesters pointed out.
The youths expressed their views about the issue. Mrs. Adejoke Ajade said “We are not happy with the situation of things. We can’t be without a king. Tomiwa is our candidate for the stool. He is the right person who is really prepared to rule rightly. He has been doing well without being the monarch by assisting the young, old, men and women in the town”
Alhaji Giwa Musadiku, the Oloritun of Eyin-Idi (Ile-nla) Odoragunshin commented that “Prince Tomiwa is our choice. He is the right person to be crowned the king. He should not be cheated by anyone.
“We are calling on the state government and the Governor to come to our aid in order to restore peace and tranquillity to the ancient town.”
Mr Adeyemi Odumosu Wasiu, one of the youth leaders said, “Otunba Tomiwa Odutuga is the most appropriate for the stool. Since 2016, the court case which the two contestants embarked on has given us serious step-backs.
“We won’t mind going to the polls to select the right person. The youths are behind him and we are ready to support him.
Mrs. Rashidat Oladega, the Iyalode of Odoragunshin also lent her voice to the matter that
“The youths are behind Otunba Tomiwa Alaba Odutuga. He is the favourite of all. He has been doing very well and we can all see that.
“He gave us two transformers for the electrification of the town.
“We are appealing to the government to give us the best candidate who we all have confidence in.”
Chief Gbalujo of Odoragunshin, Mr. Safurani Arashi a.k.a Olori Odo of Odoragunshin also supported the youths.
“We are very disappointed in some of our fathers who have no interest of this town at heart.
“Tomiwa is also my choice. He can do better than all. He is my son and the son of all. I pray for the peaceful installation of the monarch as soon as possible.”
