Ghetto Tigers defended their crown in style as they won the fourth edition of the Odi-olowo Chairman’s Cup with a 3-0 thrashing of Ajibade FA in Lagos.
Ayisat Yusuf FA tasted their first trophy in the history of the club as they defeated CATS Ladies in a thrilling penalty shootout.
Both sides played an entertaining goalless draw in the first 45 minutes and Ayisat Yusuf FA was the closest to get the lead after losing a penalty in the first half.
The second half was a brainstorming one from both sides as Ayisat Yusuf FA dominated proceedings but the CATS Ladies goalkeeper pulled up fantastic saves to keep the score line at stalemate.
After series of missed penalties in the shootout, Ayisat Yusuf FA emerged champions of the Odi-olowo Chairman’s Cup women’s category.
Goals from Imoleayo Asade and Yakubu Shamsu condemned Ajibade FA to a 3-0 defeat in the hands of defending champions, Ghetto Tigers.
Asade scored the opener with a breathtaking finish and some minutes later, he doubled the lead with an emphatic finish.
Goal poacher, Shamsu completed Ghetto Tigers rout against Ajibade FA from close range.
The captain of Ayisat Yusuf FA, Omolara Odebode commmeded her teammates for coming out strong to win the game despite losing a penalty earlier in the game.
Ghetto Tigers captain, Abiso Jida was delighted with the win and praised the organizers for giving exposure to the players.
The vice chairman of Odi-olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Mr Seyi Jakande highlighted the impact of the competition to the grassroots.
Secretary of Odi-olowo Chairman’s Cup LOC, Azeez Mustapha draws the positives from the tournament which includes the competitiveness and excitement to the fans.
Captain of Ajibade FA, Gerald Okocha said his team lost because of porous defense.
