Obe Campaign Cup kicks off July

A campaign tournament tagged “Obe Leekan Si Cup” proposed to rally more support for the re-election of the incumbent chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsuru Bello (Obe) is scheduled to kick off next month.

The competition, according to the organiser – Ejigbo Grassroots Sports Development Initiative- will be played among the teams in the six political wards in the council area.

According to the coordinator, Mr Ahmed Shekoni, the inter-ward football game, scheduled to kick off on July 10, will be sustained after the election to promote unity among the wards.

He said the participating teams are limited to the political wards in Ejigbo LCDA which are Oke-afa ward, Ifoshi ward, Fadu ward, Ailegun ward, Ilamoshe ward and Aigbaka ward.

He stated that the objective of the championship is to foster a dependable relationship between the sponsor (the council chairman) and the people of the community, adding that it will also contribute to social and youth development to maintain peace and security and serve as means of interaction between the elected chairman and his people.

Shekoni further stated that the competition will create an opportunity for youths to participate in the electioneering process in Ejigbo LCDA, benefit directly from the process and lead the change in the promotion of a sustainable, peaceful and egalitarian society.

“Aside from creating an opportunity for the chairman of Ejigbo LCDA to give back to the society, it serves as an opportunity to create and sustain an atmosphere of peace and cordiality capable of sustaining the security of lives and properties through the peaceful engagement of young people in a financially gratifying programme that promises them the future without usurping instant gratification,” he said.
