The chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsurudeen Bello (Obe), has thrown his weight behind a football competition tagged OBE Cup, to be organised in his honour.
The council boss, after ratifying the competition, pledged both financial and logistic support for the sustenance of the competition which is scheduled to be held in the last quarter of this year.
Obe gave the promise when the organisers of the game led by led by Ahmed Shekoni presented the competition materials to the chairman in his office which includes the trophy, jerseys, bibs, substitution board, medals and balls to be used during the competition.
Receiving the items, Obe assured the organisers of his utmost support to the actualisation of the competition but asked them to be patient for him to get settled in office for his new administration.
The leader of the organising committee appreciated the chairman for his anticipating support, saying the competition would be sustained.
He said the competition, apart from being organised to honour the council chairman, is also to provide an avenue for the youths in the council area to showcase their talents in footballing.
He added that it will also add to the prestige of the council to boost having annual completion apart from the Jakande Cup organised yearly in honour of the late former Lagos State Governor, Alhaji Lateef Jakande.
Meanwhile, he said the organising committee has been putting things in order to hold the maiden edition of the competition in the last quarter of the year.
He noted that the committee has spent a huge amount of money to get those items presented to the council chairman during its visit last week to show its readiness for the competition.
He, however, appealed to all other well-to-do in the council area especially the politicians for sponsorship of the competition.
