Obawole PHC Launches 24hrs Service in Ifako-Ijaiye

In a significant stride towards improving healthcare accessibility, the Obawole Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) has officially transitioned into a 24-hour service facility.

Spearheaded by the Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH), this project reflects the administration’s commitment to providing affordable and quality healthcare to the community.

Speaking on behalf of Prince Hamzat at the commissioning ceremony, Vice-Chairman Hon. Mrs. Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele highlighted the chairman’s dedication to grassroots governance.

She emphasized their determination in leaving no stone unturned when it comes to delivering quality healthcare for the residents of Ifako-Ijaiye.

This upgrade aligns with the broader agenda of the Lagos State Government to strengthen primary healthcare systems, ensuring round-the-clock access to essential medical services.

Dr. Mrs. Olufunmilayo Bankole, Permanent Secretary of Lagos Health District 1, underlined the importance of continuous healthcare in her keynote address.

She explained how the initiative will prove more effective in addressing emergencies and chronic conditions, ultimately leading to improved health outcomes in the community.

The Obawole PHC now boasts extended operational hours, modern medical equipment, and upgraded infrastructure, including wheelchair accessibility and enhanced sanitation facilities.

The project has been widely praised by community leaders and beneficiaries, with Pastor Opajobi, Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), commending Prince Hamzat’s leadership and dedication.

He described the upgrade as a testament to Prince Hamzat’s resilience and love for the people, hailing it as a transformative milestone in the community’s healthcare landscape.

” Chief Anishere Sanni, a local beneficiary, expressed gratitude, stating, “This proactive effort ensures no one is left behind, even during emergencies at odd hours.”

The Obawole PHC upgrade forms part of Prince Hamzat’s broader HEEDS Agenda (Healthcare, Education, Empowerment, Development, and Sports), which has driven numerous grassroots projects, including road construction, free health outreach programs, and staff welfare initiatives.

As the ceremony concluded, Hon. Mrs Awoniyi-Akerele affirmed, _“This facility is not just a building—it is a lifeline for our community.”_ The upgrade signals a new era of accessible healthcare in Ifako-Ijaiye, reinforcing Lagos State’s vision for a robust primary healthcare network.
