Obasa Wheels Into Lagos Assembly Complex……To Allegely Resume As Speaker

Impeached lawmaker at the Lagos House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has made way into the Parliamentary House allegely to resume duties as Presiding Speaker.

Obasa alongside an entourage of heavily armed police officers made way into the premises in Alausa, Ikeja on Thursday at about 11:30am, throwing suspense on who is the existing Speaker of the Red Chamber.

The lawmaker was accompanied by two of the other 39 parliamentarians in Ayinde Akinsanya who represents Mushin Constituency 01 and Noheem Adams, representing Mushin Constituency 02.

Reports have it that the doors to the Speaker’s office were forced open, paving way for Obasa’s entry. A group of the legislator’s loyalists accompanied him to the complex to take possession.

The incident also witnessed a mob at the Assembly gate chanting Obasa’s name, forcing motorists to use alternative routes as all entrances were blocked.

The present Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, was absent from the scene due to the Assembly being on reccess.

Reports also have it that all police escorts assigned to Meranda have been withdrawn.
