In a move to address the rising concerns of cultism and drug abuse among the youth in Ikorodu West, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) branch, has launched a compelling campaign urging young people to say ‘No’ to these social vices in 2024.

Under the banner of ‘No gree for anybody in 2024,’ the NYCN is employing a trending catchphrase to resonate with the youth and emphasize the importance of steering clear from activities that can have severe repercussions on both individuals and the society at large.

The NYCN’s strategy involves organizing a “Fitness Awareness Walk Against Cultism and Drug Abuse,” aimed at dissuading the youth from engaging in detrimental behaviors.

The statement released by the group indicated that the walk would be led by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Otunba Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, FCA, FCTI, who serves as their Grand Patron.

“This walk will not only promote physical fitness but also serve as a powerful statement against the scourge of cultism and drug abuse,” the statement explained.

The organizers have outlined a multifaceted approach to engage the participants during the walk, including fitness exercises, music, dance, and refreshments.

By incorporating these elements, the NYCN aims to create an engaging and impactful event that resonates with the youth, encouraging them to make positive choices for their well-being and the betterment of their communities.

“In 2024, we no dey gree for cultism and drug abuse in our communities,” the statement boldly declared, highlighting the group’s commitment to fostering a safer and healthier environment for the youth of Ikorodu West.

This initiative reflects the community’s dedication to proactive measures in addressing societal challenges and empowering its youth to make informed choices for a brighter future.

As the Fitness Awareness Walk approaches, expectations are high that the event will leave a lasting impression, inspiring positive change among the youth in Ikorodu West.
