As part of its effort to support the police in the enforcement of government directives towards curbing community spread of COVID-19, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ejigbo branch, has donated face masks to the police officers at Ejigbo Police Station.

Speaking about the donation, the NYCN acting Coordinator, Comr Akintunde Akinyele, said the Youth Council noted the uprightness and diligence of the entire police team in combating the spread of COVID-19 in Ejigbo, hence the need to support the police.

He said the activities of the police in the community especially during coronavirus crisis were keenly observed by the youths, hence, the reason for the donation of the items to support them.

He further noted that the Joint action of the police, Ejigbo LCDA Council Chairman, Hon. Monsuru Bello (Obe) and Community Development Committee (CDC) Executives led by Prince Jelili Atiku has  yielded remarkable results as no crime, vandalisation or armed robbery cases have been greatly reduced.

He also noted how the enforcement of law and order established by the police officers in Ejigbo has helped in curtailing the spread of Coronavirus in Ejigbo.

He said the donation of the face masks was necessary as preventive items needed by the police officers in discharging their duties.

Receiving the items, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ejigbo Police Division, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi commended the gesture by the youths, saying the face masks are some of the necessary items needed by the police in discharging their duties as they deal with people.

She expressed her excitement seeing positive-minded and vibrant youths under the National Youth Council of Nigeria supporting the police in combating crimes.

She confessed that while many youths in the community are running away from police, the NYCN was making effort to establish a unique relationship and synergise with police force to contribute to the development of the community.

The DPO therefore promised to always make herself available for the youths and everyone in the community over matters concerning security in the community, adding that she would be ready to give her support at any moment in pursuit of the development and progress of Ejigbo community.
