NWFL Premiership Super Six: Agoh Was Our Super Sub – Tosan Blankson
By Saheed Afolabi
Delta Queens Head Coach, Tosan Blankson said the introduction of Chinaza Agoh in the final of the NWFL Premiership Super Six was a major tactical decision that worked for the team.
Delta Queens ended an 11-year wait for the NWFL Premiership title as they defeated Bayelsa Queens 2-1 in the final.
The outspoken Blankson appreciated his players for absorbing the intense pressure of the game.
“I want to thank the players first. We know that God is always there for everybody but I want to thank the players first for the intense pressure in the game.
“We had been preparing for the Super Six even before the end of the regular season. We knew we were playing the Super Six. These girls are all national team materials.”
Blankson is confident that Delta Queens will replicate the NWFL Premiership success at the CAF Champions League.
“I am short of words but I give God all the glory for the victory. Don’t be surprised at what you have seen in the regular season and Super Six is the same thing you would see during continental matches.
“Football is all about planning. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. We knew the first half is going to be tough for us so we have to keep Chinaza outside. When she came in, she was fresh and gave us the desired goals.”
Delta Queens will represent Nigeria at the CAF Champions League starting with the Wafu regional showpiece which the sole winner will be at the continental tournament in Ivory Coast.
