NWFL Championship Match Day Two Recap: Ghetto Tigers Ladies Secures First Win, Castmog Ladies Edge Closer

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship Match Day Two saw Sunshine Queens secured their return to the Premiership with a hard fought 1-0 victory against Unification Ladies while Ghetto Tigers Ladies sealed their first win of the competition with a dramatic comeback 2-1 victory against Delta Babes.

Six wins was recorded in the Match Day Two while two draws were established.

Sunshine Queens 1-0 Unification Ladies

Sunshine Queens defeated Unification Ladies by a slim victory courtesy of a 79th minute strike from Lucky Victory.

Having six points from two matches, the Owena Babes have now secured their return to the elite women’s football league in Nigeria following their relegation in the 2023/2024 season.

Ghetto Tigers Ladies 2-1 Delta Babes

Ghetto Tigers Ladies showed remarkable class and resilience in their pursuit for promotion as they came back from a goal down to smash Delta Babes 2-1 in Abriba.

Nancy Ayeta gave Delta Babes an early lead in the second minute while Rofiat Ewetade equalled the score line for Ghetto Tigers Ladies in the 57th minute.

Ebube Jude scored the winning goal for the Pride of OdiOlowo Ojuwoye in the 63rd minute as they rake in 4 points from two matches.

Imo Strikers 2-1 Osun Babes

Imo Strikers sealed a 2-1 victory against Osun Babes. Chiamaka Damian gave Imo Strikers the lead in the 7th minute while Precious Alex doubled their advantage in the 28th minute. Omolola Asha pulled a goal back for Osun Babes in the 44th minute.

Imo Strikers now have six points from two matches.

Fortress Ladies 0-0 Kwara Ladies

Fortress Ladies forced Kwara Ladies to a 0-0 stalemate in Umuahia.

Both sides kept their cool in the game with series of chances created which failed to be converted.

Kwara Ladies now have two points from two matches, while Fortress Ladies have a point from two games.

Wazbak Queens 1-1 Pelican Stars

Wazbak Queens were held to a 1-1 draw by Pelican Stars in Abriba with both goals scored in the first half.

Joy Irobi gifted Pelican Stars the lead in the 43rd minute but the lead was short-lived as two minutes later, Abibat Adediran ensured a deserved equalizer for Wazbak Queens.

Wazbak Queens now own four points from two matches, while Pelican Stars promotional have ended with a point from two games.

Castmog 1-0 Royal Queens

High flying Castmog Ladies stunned favourites Royal Queens with a 76th minute fantastic goal from Zainab Odueke.

Castmog Ladies are on the brisk of promotion with six points from two games while Royal Queens one point from two matches eliminates them out of contention for promotion.

Gallant Queens 0-1 First Mahi Babes

First Mahi Babes clinched a their first win of the competition through a one goal victory against Gallant Queens through Chidera Okechukwu 61st minute strike.

The win takes the Enugu based side to three points from two matches.

Ahudiyannem Queens 3-0 Chosen Generation Angels

Hosts, Ahudiyannem Queens cruised to a 3-0 triumph against Chosen Generation Angels.

Chizaram Onyenze grabbed a hat trick in the 4th, 22nd and 83rd minute to cap up a remarkable performance for Ahudiyannem Queens.

Ahudiyannem Queens now have six points from two games and they need to secure at least a point in their last group game to seal their Premiership status for next season.
