The Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has unveiled a multi-million naira motor park in honour of President Bola Tinubu.
The facility, named the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Modern Garage, is located in Oyingbo, Lagos, and is scheduled for inauguration in the presence of senior government officials and union leaders.
Expected at the event are the Lagos NURTW Chairman, Mustapha Sego; His Royal Highness Rilwan Aremu Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos; Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor; the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, among other dignitaries.
The unveiling adds to a growing list of public institutions and infrastructure renamed after President Tinubu since he assumed office on May 29, 2023. Notable examples include the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport (renamed in March 2024), Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way (renamed in May 2024), the Bola Tinubu Building, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks, and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp.
The increasing number of landmarks bearing the President’s name has generated public debate, with some citizens viewing the gestures as recognition of his leadership, while others question the symbolism and timing of the renamings.
