Nigeria VS Benin: FIFA Appoints Egyptian Officials For Crucial World Cup Qualifier

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) have assigned three Egyptian referees to administer Nigeria’s must win World Cup qualifier against neighbors Benin.
The encounter which is scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on October 14 with kickoff time set for 5pm indigenous time.
Egyptian quadruplet of Amin Mohamed (Center Referee), Mahmoud Ahmed Kamel Ahmed Aboulergal (Assistant Referee), Ali Ahmed Tawfik Teleb (Assistant Referee 2) and Moustafa Elbana Mahmoud Zakaria Mohamed (Fourth Official) will officiate the high profile game in Uyo.
Jason Joseph Damoo from Seychelles will serve as the referee assessor for the encounter while Ghanian, Prosper Harrison Addo will anchor the tie as match commissioner.
The encounter between Nigeria and Benin is brewing with a lot of attention following earlier ruling by the Football governing body FIFA punishment on South Africa for fielding an ineligible player, Teboho Mokoena in their win against Lesotho in March 2025 as FIFA overturned the score line and deducted three precious points from Bafana Bafana on the group standings.
The ruling by FIFA changed the narrative in Group C as South Africa now has 14 points from eight matches with a better goal difference than second place Benin. While Nigeria and Rwanda maintain a close range with 11 points each.
The sanction on Bafana Bafana by FIFA brought back the Super Eagles in contention for the World Cup ticket as they hope to win their last two matches while South Africa drop points in their last two matches to pursue their World Cup dream.
