Nigeria Elite Referee, Ekun Emerges 36th LASUSU Sport Director Elect

Nigeria elite professional referee, Folashade Ekun popularly known as ‘Standard’ has been elected as the 36th Sport Director of Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU).

Ekun is a 300 level student at LASU studying Physical and Health Education Unit in the department of Human Kinetics Sports and Health Education (HKSHE) from the Faculty of Education.

Ekun was elected as the new Sport Director of LASUSU on Monday, July 28 unopposed with 3446 votes casted to her name.

She has contributed immensely to the growth of sports in the faculty of education in LASU while she served as the Sports Secretary of HKSHE department.

Ekun has cemented her name as a top professional football referee in Nigeria and where she now ranks as one of the top women referees in the country with numerous honors to her name.

She has officiated in the NLO, NNL, NWFL Premiership and the NPFL with outstanding performances Which led to the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) to award her the best referee in Lagos in 2022.

Ekun has officiated in the NFF President Federation Cup Final in 2024 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan. She has also officiated in the final of the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Competition in Benin and numerous NWFL Premiership Super Six playoffs involving top Nigeria women’s referees.
