The newly built Maternity Centre and Couples Clinic at Orile-Agege General Hospital has commenced operation following its commission by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The new facility is to fulfil the THEMES agenda of the governor to improve infrastructure in the state and enhance antenatal care and child delivery in Agege Local Government.
The facility entails a 30-bed Maternity Centre and a Couples Clinic to provide affordable and quality healthcare and increase its accessibility as some residents do not enjoy government privilege due to a shortage of space.
The Medical Director of OAGH maternity centre, Dr. Sola Pitan, said the hospital has been upgraded with modern facilities, more beds and the obstetrics high dependency unit.
He said the couple clinic was launched to educate pregnant women and their husbands on some of the challenges of pregnancy and what they need to know during delivery.
Pitan said the development will enable them to attend to more pregnant women for a seamless process during and after their delivery.
He added that they will address some of the psychological challenges that come with pregnancy and how their spouses can be of help during the period.
He, therefore, appreciated the efforts of Sanwo-Olu in rehabilitating the health sector in the council.
