In response to the directive by the Oboye Pipeline Community Development Association (CDA), the National Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), has promised to remove all abandoned vehicles in its care from the community.

The CDA had last week told the mechanics working in the community to evacuate the abandoned vehicles which have been turned to hideouts of miscreants to perpetrate their criminal activities.

The CDA chairman, Alhaji Fatai Ayinla, had warned that failure to do so might attract sanction, saying keeping abandoned vehicles across the community was dangerous to the security.
According to him, there is need to evacuate the vehicles immediately to clear the community so that any heinous activity would be easily noticed.

Reacting, the NATA chairman, Orilowo Ejigbo Unit, Mr. Semiu Atanda, said the association would make sure all the abandoned vehicles are removed from the community sooner.
Atanda, who said there was no rancour between the mechanics and the CDA, said although many of those vehicles parked in the community were not really abandoned, the mechanics would heed the CDA’s warning and directive.

“We are going to abide by the CDA’s directive on the so termed abandoned vehicles. I will personally monitor and make sure all the vehicles are cleared off the community. We shall respond to the request of the CDA accordingly.

“Meanwhile, I must tell you that the CDA doesn’t really understand our job as technicians because some of the vehicles seen as abandoned by the CDA are not actually abandoned but are under repair and some could take a long time depending on the fault and response from the owners. But all the same, we shall comply with the directive and make sure the vehicles are evacuated from the community,” he said.
