Nigerian skitmaker, Nasboi, has criticised fellow content creator Carter Efe for claiming that skit making is no longer thriving.

Carter Efe had stirred controversy during a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he said skit making was “dead” and revealed that he became depressed after noticing what he described as the decline of the industry before transitioning into streaming.

Reacting during an interview on Naija FM in Lagos, Nasboi said it was wrong for Carter Efe to downplay the same industry that brought him fame.

According to him, evolving into other areas of entertainment is not a problem, but dismissing the relevance of skit making is unfair to the industry and the creators who are still succeeding in it.

“Evolving is not a bad idea but talking down on the industry that made you is a crime in my books,” Nasboi said.

He added that although Carter Efe is a friend, the streamer sometimes speaks carelessly.

“Carter Efe is my friend, we speak every time. But he is a loose talker,” he said.

Nasboi maintained that skit making remains a viable platform for upcoming creators, noting that many new talents continue to gain popularity through the medium.

“You can’t say skit making is dead. People are blowing up every day with skit making,” he said.

He added that the decision of some creators to move into other forms of entertainment does not mean the industry they started from has become irrelevant.

“The fact that people evolved doesn’t mean that the industries they are leaving are dead,” he explained.
