N2 Million Rewards Up For Grab To Best Student In Oshodi LG

As a staunch supporter of education and youth development, Chairman Kehinde Oloyede of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government made a generous announcement at the council’s legislative building. In a bid to motivate the youth of the local government to excel in their academic pursuits, he promised a whopping two million naira reward to any student who attains the best result in the upcoming General Certificate Examination (GCE).

 

This was disclosed during the presentation of free GCE forms to 500 students at the legislative building ofnteh council.

 

 

The event was a poignant moment, not only because it marked the disbursement of 500 free GCE forms but also because it celebrated the fruits of Chairman Oloyede’s laborious efforts towards providing a solid educational foundation for the youth of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government.

 

Speaking on this historic occasion, Chairman Oloyede expressed pride in the students’ achievements, acknowledging the rigorous and transparent selection process that led up to this moment.

 

He highlighted the journey thus far, emphasizing the importance of education and youth empowerment as key pillars in building a brighter future for the community.

 

According to him, “education, as we all know, is the cornerstone of any thriving society. It is the beacon of hope for the underprivileged, the tool that levels the playing field and the engine that drives sustainable development.”

 

He proceeded that since the inception of his administration, “we have held firmly to the believe that investing in the education of our youth is not just an obligation, but a sacred duty, a duty to secure the future of our children, our community and indeed our nation.”

 

Additionally, we held free summer training sessions for youths within the council area, ensuring that everyone is better prepared for the forthcoming examinations.

 

 

The special Adviser to the Chairman on Education, Mr. Gideon Balogun while briefing the Chairman, commended all the students and explained that the process they employed to test the students was transparent and that out of the three stages, Master Emmanuel Ige was victorious.

 

An elated Chairman as part of his encouragement for the student, gave him a cash of N100,000 and was complemented by his vice, Mrs Modupeola Badmus-Aregbe who gave a N20,000.

 

Otunba Oloyede then challenged other students to ensure they read well and prepare adequately for the GCE exams next month, announcing that anyone that performs excellently will get the sum of two million naira and that if it’s Emmanuel that still has the best result, he will walk home with the said amount, which was followed with ovations and applause by the students and parents present.

 

Also recognising the need for technology and vocational skills and the diverse needs of our community, the council chairman, via the UNDP centre of the local government also organized a four weeks free vocational and technology training program. This initiative provided training in various skills such as website development, coding, graphics design, make- up artistry, tailoring, hairdressing and the production of household chemicals among others.
