The mother of one shared that she had her tattoo artist fly in from Los Angeles to her Lagos home because she did not want to express her pain in a public tattoo parlour.

In a recent interview with media personality Katy Igwe, Tiwa described the session as intense and messy, with her tattoo artist concerned about the process. She explained, “I had my tattoo artist come from LA to Nigeria, and I did it in my room where I felt comfortable. In a tattoo parlour, there are often many people around, and when you are going through pain, it can be overwhelming. I wanted a safe space.”

She continued, “My tattoo artist walked in and asked, ‘What are you doing? Is that going to come off?’ There was blood everywhere, and he was genuinely worried for me. I did this tattoo to channel the pain I felt from heartbreak. I wanted to scream through it.”

Reflecting on the experience, she added, “The past two years were very difficult. The relationship I was in was challenging, and I am truly happy to be out of it.”
