The organiser and sponsor of Seagold Super Cup, Emeka Chiedozia (Seagold), has said his love for football since his youthful age as well as his love for the development of Ejigbo community made him sponsor the Seagold Super Cup at Ejigbo mini stadium.
“I love football. Since my early youthful age, all my life has been football. And when I came to Ejigbo I decided to sponsor and develop talent for the youths to discover themselves and make a way for their career.”
Seagold said he also played football at the grassroots but never got the chance to play professionally.
“I did very well in the grassroots, I was a goalkeeper at the grassroots. I played for Royal Palace FC, I went for trials at Julius Berger FC and also traveled to India for trials before coming back to the country but I didn’t get the opportunity to play professionally and that is why I want to invest in youths and to take them off the street.”
He also assured the participating clubs that the competition will be a free and fair one, assuring that no team would be favoured over another team, adding that the best players in the competition would be sponsored to international trials.
He also hinted that awards would be given to the best player, best goalkeeper and best behaved team at the grand finale of the competition.
