The Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Mr. Emmanuel Bamigboye, has initiated a 2-day program to distribute Free Eye glasses to 500 residents suffering from poor vision.
The program began at Omodigbo Primary Healthcare Centre on Palm Avenue in Mushin Local Government, with a high turnout of patients seeking assistance for their eye defects.
Patients underwent eye tests and screenings to determine the appropriate prescription for their glasses, which would help improve and correct their vision.
In his speech, Mr. Emmanuel Bamigboye, Chairman of Mushin Local Government, explained the rationale behind the Free Eye glasses program, emphasizing the vital role of the eyes in the human body.
The Chairman also took the opportunity to educate the people about Cholera and the importance of maintaining a clean environment and regularly washing hands to safeguard themselves against the disease. He urged the residents to adopt these hygiene practices and make them a part of their daily routine.
As the Chairman handed out the Free Eye glasses to those who had undergone tests and were prescribed specific glasses, he emphasized the importance of protecting the glasses due to their high cost. He reiterated the significance of the program in preventing his people from “living in visual darkness.”
The Supervisor for Health, Mr. Femi Nuga, expressed gratitude to the Chairman for his devotion to improving the health status of Mushin residents. He listed several health programs and projects being implemented by the Chairman, including the ongoing construction of an additional Primary Healthcare Centre in Idi Araba.
While the programme was going on, public servants working in the Mushin Local Government, were also enjoying the Monthly Free Medical Screening and services, with tests, dispensaries of medication and monitoring of Blood pressure among the staff, at the council secretariat.
At the venue of the distribution of Free Eye glasses, Leader of the legislative Arm, Mr. Olawale Ayegbayo, Secretary to the Local Government – Mrs. Olubunmi Gbadamosi, Supervisors, Special Advisers/Assistants, heads of various departments, Political leaders, Community leaders and religious leaders, joined the chairman, to flag off the event.
The host, Head of Health and Medical Services department – Dr. Kayode Odufuwa, thanked the Chairman for always supporting health programmes, targeted ay providing health services to the people of Mushin.
The chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) in Mushin, Pa. Olufemi Okuyemi, commended the chairman for squeezing out funds to execute the health programmes despite the ongoing road projects presently being executed across the wards. He prayed that God will continue to guide the chairman and give him wisdom to succeed in his administration.
The beneficiaries were full of praise for the chairman, for the provision of free glasses worth over 20,000 each, to acquire, considering the current economic situation of the country.
