Mushin LG Reliefs Residents From Illegal Shanties
By Saheed Afolabi
Mushin Local Government, under the leadership of Tunbosun Aruwe, has carried out a major clearance of illegal shanties around Rafiu Ipaye and Iseyin Streets in Ijeshatedo as part of its ongoing drive for environmental sanitation and urban renewal.
The exercise targeted structures that had turned into hubs for environmental nuisance and security concerns, restoring order and creating a cleaner, more organised environment for residents.
The clearance is particularly significant because Rafiu Ipaye and Iseyin Streets are newly reconstructed roads. Removing the shanties ensures the preservation of the new infrastructure and presents a befitting, well-maintained setting worthy of the investment.
For a long time, residents of the area had voiced serious concerns about the activities around the shanties, including improper waste disposal and constant obstruction of free movement along the streets.
The council has demonstrated its commitment to delivering a safer, cleaner and more habitable community for all residents.
