Nigerian-born UFC star Israel Adesanya, recently stirred controversy with remarks about women in Lagos.
In a video shared on his official X account, Adesanya alleged that many women in Lagos are engaged in prostitution, commonly referred to as “runs girls.”
However, the former UFC welterweight champion urged them to be nice and friendly instead of being proud.
Speaking in Yoruba Language, Adesanya said, “Lagos women like to feel themselves and are proud. Most of you are runs girls. I know the meaning of runs girls now. Kobo kobo, ashewo.
Adesanya criticized Lagos women for their ostentatious behavior, suggesting that the funds they use to support their lifestyles often come from their involvement in prostitution. He urged them to adopt a more humble and friendly demeanor.
“You want to show off. Keep posing and showing off. Nonsense. Just be nice, be friendly, say hi.”
Adesanya arrived in Lagos last Wednesday to a warm reception after his fourth-round submission loss to South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis in their middleweight title showdown at UFC 305 in Perth on Saturday night.
