Man Sentenced To 24 Hour Community Service For Stealing

A 52-year old man, Samuel Jidenu has been given the task to carry out a community service as punishment for stealing.

Jidenu was arraigned and sentenced at the Badagry Magistrates’ Court.

The Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, delivered the judgement after listening to the prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, who submitted that the offender commited the act on August 6 at Povita Site of Prime Meritean in Badagry.

Jidenu, who pleaded guilty to two-count charge of felony and stealing, broke into the premises and stole 100 pieces of golden iron belonging to one Levitikol Group of Companies, the prosecutor said.

Ekpo explained that the offences contravened sections 308 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Layeni said, “The prosecution has been able to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt, with exhibit tendered against the convict.

“You, Samuel Jidenu, will carry out a 24-hour community service for the punishment of your theft act”.
