One Bakare Ridwan has been remanded in prison over a reported theft and damages of electric cables amounting to N1.8 million.
Ridwan was put on trial at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court yesterday on a two-count charge bordering on the stealing which he admitted guilty of, after which the court ordered his remand at a correctional centre until March 26, for review of facts and sentencing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Christian Okonofua, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 20 at Owode-Rabaka, Ibeshe area of Ikorodu in Lagos.
Okonofua alleged that the defendant unlawfully damaged and stole 30 meters XLPE electric cables belonging to Ikeja Electrics.
He said the offences contravene the provisions of sections 287 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
