Man Remanded Over Assault On Lover

One Chinedu Eze has been remanded to face prosecution for allegedly beating his lover.

38 year-old Eze was accused of assaulting the victim, one Blessing Nwafor, in Ketu Lagos.

He was arraigned at the Ogudu Magistrates’ Court on charges bordering on alleged assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

He pleaded not guilty.

Nevertheless, the prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, informed the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 27 at Adeyemi Street, Ikosi, Ketu.

Bassey claimed that the litigant physically, emotionally, and verbally abused the complainant since 2021 when they began living together.

The Prosecutor added that the assault led to injuries to the victim’s neck and leg. He also noted that the alleged offences violated section 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The court granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjouned till March 18.
