Man On Trial For Stealing Slippers Worth N3m

A suspect identified as Jimoh Samod is on trial for allegely stealing slippers worth N3,045,000 in Badagry, Lagos.

27-year-old Samod was arraigned at the Magistrates’ Court in Badagry on accusations of stealing 203 packs of slippers. At the sitting, Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni adjourned the case till August 14 for commencement of trial.

Inspector Edet Ekpo, standing as Prosecutor, said that the defendant, put on one count charge of stealing, committed the offence between July 5 and 6 at Jegba, Marina area of Badagry.

Ekpo told the Magistrate that he stole the item belonging to one Bankole Ajibola, the complainant.

The prosecutor also submitted that the offence contravene Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015

Samod pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1.5 million, with two sureties in like sum, one of which must be a director of a company with two years tax clearance.

The defendant was also ordered to deposit N50,000 with the chief registrar.
